Not Today:
Inspired by an 80s poster aesthetic and my black cat, this piece was a fun, personal project to explore a vibrant, retro color palette and comic-style illustration.

The Mask:
An exploration of the performance of societal expectations. Many have internal struggles that complicate daily lives, however we appear happy. Oftentimes, many don't want to burden others with personal issues so they wear a mask.
If you look closely, the subject is barely holding on to the mask, at any moment she could drop it, but that mask has become a part of her. Who is she without the mask?

Groovy Poster:
Designed as my final project for an Illustrator course, this piece captures a vibrant 70s aesthetic. It features a repeating 'groovy' text background, iconic era-specific colors, and a woman styled with the period's characteristic bob and makeup.

The Burden of Chronic Pain:
In the rare disease and chronic pain communities, many undergo a loss of self while battling their illnesses. This is my visualization of that grief. The subject is dressed in black as a means of mourning, one must often mourn their old self in order to move forward. It explores the reality that once illness takes hold, the person you were before is often lost forever.
The heaviest part for many battling chronic conditions is that while you must find your new identity, illness stops for no man. The red in the background symbolizes the alarm constantly going off. Finally, A dark, obscuring fog washes over the subject, this represent brain fog and cognitive isolation felt by many with conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos, Multiple Sclerosis, and chronic migraines. Even when battling a diagnosis, one often feels obscure.

The Gift of Spring:
This piece is all about contentment. It's about moving with the flow of life, rather than fighting against it. This is a subject who has found peace. Something that is rare to find in such a busy world.

Stagnation:
This piece is a visual exploration of what it feels like to remain stagnant. The idea was to focus on minimal colors to make it feel as if life around you had become colorless. The subject is facing away from the words to indicate she is ready to move on, yet is being held back by the emotions of stagnation.
The piece is meant to invoke empathy and a deeper look a human psychology. Afterall, it's entirely human to feel stuck every now and again.
